AMRI Outreach Summer Research Programs for

High School Students and Teachers*

The University of New Orleans (UNO) has sponsored the AMRI Outreach Summer Research Program for High School Students and Teachers since 2002.  The program began as part of a National Science Foundation EPSCoR project cosponsored by the Louisiana Board of Regents and continues through funding from the Board of Regents, the National Science Foundation, AMRI, the University of New Orleans, and the Academy of Applied Science/Army Research Office.  High school students and teachers participate in research projects within the areas of synthesis, characterization and application of nanoparticles and their composites and assemblies. Participants also attend scientific and professional development seminars, a session on research ethics, and participate in field trips to local industrial and related sites and in organized social activities.
